Myles Borash

DVM & Co-Owner

Dr. Myles Borash founded Borash Veterinary Clinic in 1979 out of his genuine love for animals and passion for delivering high-quality medicine. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 1973. Highly experienced, Dr. Borash's practical approach to veterinary medicine has helped keep pets happy and healthy for over fifty years. There isn't much Dr. Borash hasn't seen!

Providing care and shelter for lost and stray pets in the community is important to Dr. Borash. Over the years, Dr. Borash has maintained a Lost Pets & Adoptions program at the clinic in an effort to help animals of all kinds receive clinical care and find loving forever homes. His expertise and big heart also travels to Aruba where he volunteers at clinics performing services and surgeries for stray cats, dogs, and horses. Dr. Borash has professional interests in advanced dental procedures, orthopedics, and many other types of surgeries. He also has over 40 years of experience caring for exotic pets like birds, turtles, rabbits, and more.

His favorite breed is yellow Labradors, and his last companion, Sam, is the yellow lab that's front and center in the clinic mural. When Dr. Borash is not seeing clients and pets, he enjoys bike riding, traveling to Aruba to swim in the tropical Aruban waters, and windsurf racing at warm venues. In fact, in the 1990's, Dr. Borash was a 3-time US National Windsurfing Champion! You may even spot him in the harbor on a windy day. Dr. Borash also greatly enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathleen, daughter, Laura, son and daughter-in-law, David and Lori, and grandsons, Jesse and Aidan.

Rick Southgate

DVM & Co-Owner

Dr. Rick Southgate earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Tufts University. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Southgate spent ten years gaining valuable skills and experience in the veterinary field as a veterinary technician. He even had the exciting opportunity to travel to Alaska and work with Iditarod sled dogs!

Dr. Southgate joined the team at Borash Veterinary Clinic in April 2013 as an Associate Veterinarian and became a partner at the practice in July 2017. Since, he has formed lasting relationships with his clients and their pets through thorough care, compassion, and bedside manner. Actively involved in the veterinary community, Dr. Southgate volunteers as a board member with the Veterinary Association of the North Shore (VANS). His professional interests include dermatology, allergies, and oncology.

In his free time, Dr. Southgate enjoys golfing, enjoying cuisine at La Victoria Taqueria, and spending quality time with his wife and sons. Rescued breeds are Dr. Southgate's breed of choice. You may have even met his lovable rescue lab mix Dexter when you came in for a visit!

Nicole Poirier

DVM

Dr. Nicole Poirier, DVM, is an Associate Veterinarian at Borash Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Poirier earned her Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to her education, Dr. Poirier completed an internship in small animal medicine, surgery, neurology, and emergency/critical care at VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center and VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. Her areas of professional interest include preventative care, surgery, internal medicine, and critical care.

Dr. Poirier started working in the veterinary field in 2015 as a veterinary technician and started her career as a veterinarian in 2019 after graduating from veterinary school. Growing up, Dr. Poirier developed a passion for taking care animals and discovered how much she valued the human-animal bond, which led to her dream of becoming a veterinarian. According to Dr. Poirier, the best part of working in the veterinary field (other than puppies!) is building and maintaining strong relationships with pets and their owners.

Originally from Wells, ME, Dr. Poirier now lives in Massachusetts with her 10-year-old, white long-haired chihuahua, a 12-year-old terrier mix that Dr. Poirier rescued from a house fire, and a golden retriever puppy. In her free time, Dr. Poirier enjoys spending time with her family and pets, going to the beach or out to dinner, traveling, weightlifting, and running.
