Dental Examination
A dental examination is part of every wellness visit at Borash Veterinary Clinic. We may recommend a professional dental cleaning if we observe signs of dental disease. 80% of dogs and 70% of cats develop some form of dental disease by the age of three. That’s why we recommend annual dental cleanings!
Dental Cleaning
All dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia. This allows our veterinary professionals to perform a thorough cleaning of the teeth, gums, and issues that are found below the gum line. We strictly follow every precautionary step to ensure a safe surgical procedure from start to finish. Depending on the severity of your pet’s dental diagnosis, potential extractions may be recommended.
Our facility is equipped with advanced digital dental radiography. Since more than half of your pet’s teeth are below the gum line, this is an invaluable tool that allows us to accurately diagnose stages of dental disease and measure treatment success.
At-Home Dental Care
There are great dental products on the market that you can use between visits and annual cleanings. The good news is, there are products that meet every pet’s tolerance level. It’s great if your pet lets you clean their teeth with a pet-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste, but if they don’t, that’s okay too! There are dental chews, treats, toys, and rinses that can help break down plaque and tartar buildup. We will help you choose an appropriate at-home dental regimen to meet your pet’s needs and personality.
